Google has started rolling out AI Inbox for Gmail to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the United States. The feature brings Gemini directly into the inbox to highlight priority emails, flag upcoming deadlines, and mark messages from frequent contacts. It was initially tested with a limited group of users before this wider release to paying subscribers.
AI Ultra costs $250 per month. Currently, AI Inbox is only available to that tier in the US. Google has not announced when or if the feature will be available to lower-tier plans.
What Gmail’s New AI Inbox Does
AI Inbox introduces a new space within Gmail that provides a personalized briefing based on the contents of your inbox. Google explains that the feature automatically highlights emails related to upcoming bills, appointments, and messages from frequently contacted contacts.
These items are separated from the regular inbox and shown as priority items. The feature does not replace Gmail’s existing layout but overlays a Gemini-powered layer for users on the qualifying plan.
How Much AI Inbox Cost and Where Is It Available
Google AI Ultra costs around $250 a month. The plan includes access to AI Inbox, higher Gemini usage limits, and Google’s most advanced Gemini models. It also offers 30TB of shared cloud storage across Drive and Photos, YouTube Premium, and Google Home Premium Advanced. The $20 per month Google AI Pro plan does not currently include AI Inbox. Google has not announced when the feature might be available to AI Pro subscribers or free Gmail users, but it is expected that access will be expanded over time.
AI Inbox is now launching for AI Ultra subscribers in the United States. Google has not announced a rollout schedule for other regions or for users on lower subscription tiers.
