Google has increased the amount of cloud storage included with its Google AI Pro plan from 2TB to 5TB, without changing the monthly price of $20. The update was confirmed by Shimrit Ben-Yair, Google’s vice president and general manager of Google Photos and Google One, in a post on X. The rollout is happening globally and may take up to 24 hours to appear in account dashboards or the Google One app.
The storage upgrade applies only to Google AI Pro. Standard Google One plans are unaffected and continue to offer their existing storage tiers.
What’s Included in the 5TB Google AI Pro Storage Pool
The 5TB storage pool is shared across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos backups, similar to how storage is allocated for other Google One tiers. No new storage categories or restrictions have been introduced with the increase.
Google has not changed the pricing for the AI Pro plan. The next storage tier above AI Pro is 10TB, which costs $49.99 per month.
Which Google Plans Are Affected by the AI Pro Storage Increase
The upgrade is automatic for existing Google AI Pro subscribers, and no action is needed on their part. Google notes that it may take a few hours or up to a day for the changes to appear in account settings. Users on standard Google One plans, including the 100GB tier priced at $2 per month and higher tiers, will not see any storage increase.
Google has not announced any changes to those plans. Google AI Ultra, which costs $250 per month and already offers 30TB of storage, remains unaffected by this update. The company has not specified whether there are plans for additional storage increases for the AI Pro tier or when the rollout will be completed across all regions.
